I always wanted to explore the baseball diamonds by my house that my brothers and I used to play on. Well, more like, they would force me to pitch for them so they could practice. I can't tell you how many times, as a kid, I cried because I didn't want to play sports anymore. In retrospect, it was good for me. Besides the whole exercise aspect of it, I've got pretty decent aim when it comes to throwing. I also have pretty good control, although sometimes I do misjudge distances. I will say this: the other day, on a break, eating fruit snacks, I had the urge to throw a fruit snack at Joe. I hit him square in the shoulder as he sat at his computer. Attack of the fruit snacks!
Anyhow, back to the topic of the park: now its snack stand is boarded up, the scoreboards lean, but surprisingly, all the bases are still there.
take me out the ball game

Welcome
this is where i share my photographs, my rambling thoughts, the books i read, and what i create in the kitchen. if that's not enough information, click here for more.
Where is this one? I used to play ball w/brothers and friends at Wick Field. "Peggy on a bounce or a fly", as there was usually only 4 or maybe 5 of us, not enough for a game. Made up a lot of the Summer months, developed skills and tired us out so we went to bed when it was still kinda light outside. :)) Nice blog!!
ReplyDeleteWick was cool. I don't think I ever played on the field, but I know i watched my brothers play ball there. This one is next to Havenwood. There are three diamonds there.
ReplyDeleteI love all these shots of the abandoned baseball field! It sounds like a great place to explore!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'm going to think of you next time I eat a fruit snack -- :)
