I have been having a good...well, everything. Work could be better, but it's Christmas time and even after that, it's return-a-palooza. I don't think I'll be feeling fine about work for the next few months. However, there are other things that are making me feel really good. The ability to knit, first of all, makes me feel accomplished! Rising above the BS has me feeling awesome. The support of several photographers I admire has really got me tweaking out like you would not believe. I'm still in awe and will probably be feeling that for a long time. It's not necessarily about other people's approval, I know. But when it is someone whose work you have admired from afar, I am going to flip my shit.

I've been trying and trying to be consistent with posting and it's not going as well as I want. I won't beat myself up about it, but I really really want to make the effort for consistent content. I'm going to end this post now since I'm getting sleepy and this is probably coming off as a ramble. Farewell, all!

My life lately has been filled with taking in the little things in life, learning to knit, and trying to get into the Holiday spirit. Working in retail, it's a little bit difficult because I feel like we have to prepare for Christmas earlier and earlier every year. I have been doing this for six years and it never gets easier. In fact, I feel like it gets worse and worse. Things get weirder as we get closer to Christmas. I feel like the hermits and recluses decide to venture out into the world and unleash every bit of crazy on our store. But that's okay! I have things to keep me sane, such as my Joan Didion essay collection and notebooks to fill with blog ideas. I've been very brain-stormy lately, which is unusual for me. Luckily, I always keep a notebook with me so I can jot down whatever pops into my head. Something that's an excellent motivator, as well as sparks good ideas is a cold rinse in the shower. It may sound silly, but it works. It is like a shock to your body and brain so it gets the cogs and wheels turning in the brain.

Pardon the rambling in this post, but this is what has been running through my brain lately. I hope everyone had an awesome holiday and will update on my work Christmas card project soon. It's a pretty fun one!

a bit of an afterglow

Two posts in one day? I suppose I am fulfilling my goal to start blogging more. I even am trying to plan posts in advance. I need to keep my mind occupied. It is seriously the only way to beat the winter blues. Oh, that and watching Parks and Recreation on Netflix. Yep. I had never watched an episode until two months ago, Laura was in town and we were hanging out with Matt. We decided to watch a tv show so that way, if we grew tired, we could finish the episode and be all good. Matt was the only one of us who watches Parks and Rec and was shocked that we didn't watch it. It cracks me up. I love it! Almost done with the second season already.

Onto this post: It's crazy how one person can effect so many lives! Elsie Larson of A Beautiful Mess posted on her instagram that she was using the Afterglow app. Within a few hours, afterglow experiments were popping up all over instagram. I, of course, was sucked in by another wonderful selection by Elsie and it was only $.99! I'm having a lot of fun with it and look forward to more experiments in the future.

* Side-note: I am in no way saying that people are incapable of finding apps on their own and that they are just sheep that follow what others do. Some were probably intrigued by her instagram (like me), but I thought it was an interesting coincidence.
